A Custom Faux Green Wall That Lets the Tile Show Through

Challenge

The client wanted greenery in their space without covering or overpowering a beautifully designed tiled wall. A conventional greenwall, planted edge to edge, would have hidden the very feature they wanted to keep in view.

Results

A one-of-a-kind faux greenwall: trays of hand-selected faux plants in a geometric layout that keeps the tile in the spotlight. It needs no watering, trimming or upkeep, and the client praised the blend of nature and modern design.

Key Product

Faux Greenwalls

Commercial Interior

A commercial interior with an existing tiled feature wall, used by employees and visitors. The client wanted greenery that would complement the architecture already in place, not replace it.

The Challenge

Our client wanted to bring greenery into their space, but not at the expense of the wall it would sit on. That wall was already a design feature: a beautifully finished tiled surface they had no intention of hiding. A conventional greenwall, planted edge to edge, would have covered it completely.

The brief called for something lighter. Enough planting to change how the space feels, with the tile still doing its work.

The Solution

A layout designed as part of the wall

Instead of a solid wall of plants, we designed a series of sleek, simple trays arranged in a dynamic geometric pattern. The spaces between the trays matter as much as the trays themselves. They keep the tile visible and let the greenery read as a layer over the architecture, not a replacement for it. The tray profiles were kept deliberately minimal so they sit comfortably within the surrounding design.

Hand-selected faux planting

Each tray is filled with hand-selected faux plants, chosen to reproduce the depth, texture and variety of a living greenwall. Because the planting is faux, the wall needs no watering, no trimming and no upkeep.

Installed and styled on site

GrowUp's design and installation team traveled to site to mount the trays, adjusting their positions on the wall until the composition was balanced. Once the trays were fixed, our designers arranged and secured the plants tray by tray, building in variation so the finished wall looks natural and organic.

The Results

The result is a fresh, full, layered greenwall that leaves the original tile in the spotlight. The client was delighted with the outcome and praised the blend of nature-inspired elements and modern design. Employees and visitors appreciate the biophilic touch, and the space feels more inviting for it.

The wall also asks nothing of the people who look after the building. It is maintenance-free and was complete from the day it was installed. Most of all, the project shows that a faux greenwall does not have to be a solid panel. Designed around the space, it can be as bold and specific as the architecture it joins.
