A Biotech Leader Ready to Elevate its Workplace Environment
Legend Biotech is a global biotechnology company dedicated to creating advanced therapies that treat and potentially cure life-threatening diseases. As part of a broader renovation to enhance the aesthetics and functionality of their Philadelphia office, the team recognized a need for nature in the workplace. The space lacked greenery, offered no views of natural landscapes, and felt disconnected from the calming elements that support focus and wellbeing.
The company wanted a biophilic design solution that made a meaningful impact, aligned with their mission-driven culture, and could be installed in an existing building without structural integration. GrowUp Greenwalls was engaged to develop a series of high-impact, low-maintenance features that would bring warmth, life, and brand alignment to the space.

Improve Interior Views in a Window Heavy but View Poor Environment
Large windows offered natural light but looked out at the surrounding buildings. The client wanted to soften these views and foster a sense of connection to nature.
Utilize a low-maintenance solution to reduce or eliminate the need for ongoing maintenance costs.
Preserved moss is no longer living and therefore does not require water, soil, light, or trimming. The occasional dusting with compressed air or a feather duster is sufficient to keep moss walls vibrant for many years. Replica plants were used for the greenwall units, creating a highly realistic greenwall without ongoing maintenance.

GrowUp designed a cohesive ecosystem of moss features and replica plant greenwalls that move with the natural flow of the office. The complete solution included:
- A large moss feature wall in the lobby
- Five mission-aligned moss value walls in the conference room
- A movable tabletop moss arrangement
- High-quality replica greenwall units between office windows
This mix delivered maximum visual impact while requiring no irrigation, drainage, or ongoing maintenance.

The feature wall instantly redefined the lobby experience. The combination of rich moss textures and warm wooden slats softened the space and created a welcoming, brand-forward focal point for employees and visitors.

GrowUp installed five three foot by three foot moss walls, each featuring preserved mood moss, accent foliage, a wooden frame, and acrylic lettering displaying a company value.

Placement Strategy
The five walls were mounted in a linear row along one side of the conference room, forming a continuous band of greenery and reinforcing the company’s culture during meetings and team discussions.

Tabletop Moss Installation
A Flexible Touch of Greenery

Designed to be fully mobile, this tabletop feature can be placed in the conference room for meetings or moved to the kitchen area to support shared work sessions and social gatherings. Its adaptability allows the workspace to remain dynamic and responsive to daily needs.

Planting Design
Eight varieties of high-quality replica plants were arranged to mimic natural growth patterns and deliver lush, realistic coverage.
Placement Strategy
The greenwall units were hung between the office’s large exterior windows. While the windows offered abundant light, their views were dominated by surrounding buildings. By placing greenery within these visual frames, the GrowUp team created new interior views of nature that coexist with the urban backdrop and provide employees with a more restorative sightline.
Design and Fabrication Process
GrowUp’s in-house designer collaborated closely with the client to select moss types, patterns, framing details, and signage elements.
All moss walls were handcrafted in the GrowUp studio in Escondido by our Moss Artists using durable plywood backing boards. Each piece was custom-built to ensure seamless installation and long-term stability.
Installation Approach
Installation occurred outside of office hours to minimize disruption during the broader renovation. Since the host walls were drywall with metal studs, the GrowUp team used reinforced mounting techniques for all moss walls and greenwall units, ensuring safety, stability, and longevity.
