Overview: A study of interior landscape’s impact on human-centered design: This session will present the most relevant and compelling findings on the environmental impact of plants on people’s physical, psychological and behavioral needs within the built environment.  Participants will be able to quantify the environmental contributions of plants to a building interior. They will gain practical insight into the bottom line and human-centered benefits of designing with plants. At the end of the program, participants will comprehend how biophilic design factors (the human affinity for natural things) profoundly affect the well-being and overall profitability of the modern built environment, as well as walk away with concrete suggestions on how to use this design consideration towards LEED certification.

Learning Objectives: 

1. Evaluate and measure what our human behaviors and recent science demonstrate regarding the biophilic response to live plants. 
2. Comprehend and apply what these measurements mean for green building designs. 
3. Empower to initiate, plan, and gain support for biophilic plant programs within the various planning and architectural processes. 
4. Understand the importance of maintenance and the ongoing cost of having plants within the modern built environment.
