Mobile living walls in an office break room

Corporate offices

Workplace greenery that survives the handoff

Custom moss walls, curated planter greenery and living walls for corporate interiors.

We design them alongside your team, document them for the spec, and deliver them as drawn.

One office, many different spaces

GrowUp Greenwalls designs, fabricates and installs preserved moss walls, curated replica planter arrangements and living walls for corporate offices across the US.

A reception, a meeting room and an open-plan floor ask different things of greenery. Light, traffic, acoustics, who looks after it, and where it sits in the fit-out schedule all shape what works. We help you match each space to the right solution. If you're weighing the options, our guide to choosing between moss, living and faux walls walks through how each one performs.

Greenery by office space

Custom preserved moss wall in a corporate office reception

Reception and lobby A preserved moss wall

Reception is where clients, candidates and new hires first meet the company, and where the brand is most visible. A custom moss wall gives it natural texture that can carry your logo, mission or brand palette, with no water or light required.

Plan for:

  • Power for any backlit signage, coordinated with the electrical design
  • Frames and edges coordinated with the surrounding millwork, with recessed protection where foot traffic is heavy
  • Placement away from direct sunlight through glazing

Preserved moss wall panels create a stunning and memorable backdrop to business meetings in an office.

Meeting rooms and focus areas Moss for softness and sound

Glass partitions and hard finishes make meeting rooms echo. Preserved moss is naturally sound-absorbent and softens these rooms visually too. It is also a way to bring company values into the room, as panels rather than posters.

Plan for:

  • Fire-rated acoustical felt backing or a wood-slat acoustic hybrid where acoustics are a priority. We confirm the right assembly for each room.
  • A Class A fire-rated assembly, where required, specified up front

Curated replica planter arrangements dividing an open-plan office

Open-plan floors and breakout areas Curated replica planters

Open-plan floors use planters to divide space, and planters often arrive with the furniture. Curated replica planter arrangements give them a finished, professionally composed look on move-in day, with no water, light or pruning.

Plan for:

  • Final planter dimensions from the furniture supplier before ordering
  • Quantity: as a guide, a 6-8 inch wide planter takes about one arrangement per 3 linear feet, and a 10-12 inch planter about two per 3 linear feet for a fuller look. We confirm the final count.
  • The planters themselves, which come from the furniture or planter supplier. Each arrangement includes its planter dressing.

Atriums and double-height spaces A living wall

Where the goal is real, growing plants at architectural scale, a living wall turns a tall space into the centerpiece of the office. Full-size plants mean it looks established from installation day.

Plan for:

  • A host wall that supports approximately 18 lbs per square foot. Reinforcement may be needed.
  • Irrigation: plumbed in with drainage, a self-contained tank, or hand watering
  • Supplemental grow lights in most indoor spaces
  • Landlord approval for plumbing and structural work in leased buildings
  • A care plan agreed before handover, including whether the tenant, landlord or facilities team owns it. We provide maintenance or help arrange a trusted local partner.

Things to think about

Planning greenery into an office fit-out

The decisions that keep greenery from being value-engineered out, in the order they come up.

1. Choose by space, early

Decide where living greenery is realistic, based on water, light and structure, and where moss or replica planters are the better fit. Settling this in early design keeps the feature in the budget.

2. Coordinate with the other trades

Electrical for backlit signage and grow lights. Plumbing for living wall irrigation. Millwork for frames. The furniture supplier for planter sizes.

3. Specify for approvals

Note fire-rating requirements and confirm custom colors early. CSI 3-part specifications are available for moss walls.

4. Install at the right moment

Moss walls go in after dusty construction and painting are complete, so the moss is protected. Replica planter arrangements can be placed once the planters are in position.

5. Think about the lease and the handover

In leased space, moss walls and replica planter arrangements can be designed post-build and removable, with no structural changes. Living walls need landlord approval for plumbing and structure. Agree who looks after any living wall before move-in.

Spaces people want to come back to

Workplaces now compete for attention: from employees deciding whether to come in, and from clients forming a first impression in reception. (We look at this shift in more depth in biophilic design for the return to office.) The research on nature in the office points one way.

  • Lower stress, higher creativity. In a randomized study from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, people in simulated biophilic offices showed lower blood pressure and higher creativity scores. (Yin et al., 2019, Indoor Air)
  • 15% higher productivity when living plants were added to lean office space, across three field experiments in commercial offices in the UK and the Netherlands. (Nieuwenhuis et al., 2014, Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied)
  • Calmer desk work beside a living wall. In a 2024 study that measured brain activity and heart rate, a living wall slowed the build-up of negative feelings during desk work. (Shao et al., 2024, Buildings)

Questions design teams ask us

Should an office choose a living wall, a moss wall or artificial plants?

Match each to the space. Moss walls suit receptions and meeting rooms that need a feature with no plant care. Replica planter arrangements suit open-plan floors and breakout areas. Living walls suit atriums and statement spaces where real, growing plants are the goal and water, light and a care plan are in place. One office can combine all three.

What should I look for in a green wall company for a corporate office?

A partner that can work inside an office fit-out: coordinating with the GC, the furniture supplier and the other trades, and documenting the work so it survives pricing and procurement. GrowUp Greenwalls has installed more than 1,200 greenwalls. We provide design consultation, detailed drawings and CSI specifications for moss walls, hand-fabricate moss walls in our Escondido, California studio, and install nationwide through our partner network.

Why use a moss wall in an office reception?

Reception is where visitors form their first impression. A preserved moss wall gives it natural texture that can carry your logo or mission, needs no water or light, and softens a hard-surfaced space.

Are artificial plants a good choice for an office?

They're a strong fit where light is limited, water isn't available, or nobody wants to take on plant care. Curated replica planter arrangements give open-plan floors and planters a professionally composed look from day one. Where living greenery is the goal and a care plan is in place, a living wall is the better choice.

Can you supply planter greenery for a new office fit-out?

Yes. Curated Replica Planter Arrangements are supplied ready to place in standard or custom planters, including planters arriving with new office furniture. Share the final planter sizes and we'll confirm how many arrangements each one needs. Choose from 11 curated arrangements or a custom design.

When should greenery be installed during an office fit-out?

Moss walls go in after dusty construction and painting are complete. Replica planter arrangements can be placed once the planters are in position. Living walls need water, power and structure coordinated during design, well before installation.

Can greenery work in a leased office?

Yes. Moss walls and replica planter arrangements can be designed post-build and removable, with no structural changes. Our biotech HQ project in Philadelphia was installed that way. Living walls need landlord approval for plumbing and structural work.

Can a moss wall go near office windows?

Keep preserved moss away from direct sunlight and other high-UV conditions. We'll match the solution to the light in each part of the office.

Can a moss wall help with meeting room acoustics?

Moss is naturally sound-absorbent. Where acoustic performance is a priority, fire-rated acoustical felt backing and wood-slat acoustic hybrid designs are available. We confirm the right assembly for each project.

Can our mission or values go on the wall?

Yes. Moss walls can carry acrylic, metal or backlit lettering, logos and custom colors. In our biotech HQ project, the company mission runs across the lobby wall and each company value has its own moss panel in the conference room.
